The split schedule followed Bandai Namco's launch window: console versions carried the July 9 date, while Steam followed on July 10. If you are buying now, the practical answer is simple: the game is available on all three announced platforms.
The road to launch: demo, save transfer and editions
The launch path is now complete. The key dates and player-facing details:
- Announced — March 2026, revealed by Bandai Namco as a new Sword Art Online action RPG.
- Free demo — launched during Steam Next Fest on June 15, and June 16 on PS5 and Xbox. Five missions, both prologue bosses and all six weapon types.
- Save transfer — Bandai Namco added demo save transfer in the Day 1 update (Ver.1.0.3). Import from the same platform family; do not assume cross-platform carry-over.
- Launch — July 9 (PS5/Xbox) and July 10 (Steam), 2026.
The most important detail for demo players: your save data can transfer to the full game after updating to Ver.1.0.3. The safest route is to update both the demo and full game, launch on the same platform family, and read every confirmation prompt before declining an import. Editions at a glance
- Standard — $69.99: base game.
- Deluxe — $89.99: base game + expansion DLC + starter pack + early Death Game Mode unlock.
- Ultimate — $109.99: everything in Deluxe + the Unanswered//butterfly bonus app + the Flutter Boots & Robes armor pack.
- Aincrad Edition — $149.99 (PS5 only): a physical collector's box — base game disc with an Ultimate Upgrade Voucher, plus a beanie, wall scroll, patches and stickers.

Is it available now?
Yes. Echoes of Aincrad is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. If a regional storefront still shows a delay or a preload state, check that store's local rollout and refresh after applying any Day 1 update.
What to do first now that it is out
- Install the Day 1 update — Ver.1.0.3 adds demo save transfer and changes several combat balance points, including weapons, skills, enemies, difficulty scaling and step/roll invulnerability.
- Import carefully — if you played the demo, update first and read the save-transfer prompt before starting fresh.
- Pick your edition — Deluxe/Ultimate still matter if you want early Death Game Mode access; most first runs should still start without permadeath.
- Plan your build — read the character creation and weapon guides so your first hour is decisions, not guesses.
