Known Issues & Official Workarounds

The short version: one quest issue has an official workaround. Everything else stays in the monitoring queue until it has evidence, a reproducible pattern or a developer notice.

Short answer: the only launch issue on this page with a developer-confirmed workaround is the "Original Sin" black-screen bug. Before starting that quest, use Iori, Zash, or Argo as your partner. Bandai Namco says a permanent fix is planned. We will not turn a Reddit comment into a repair manual just to make this list look longer.

Death Game caution. Do not begin a high-stakes run assuming a crash, black screen, or community trick can be reversed. Official guidance is narrower than that. Check the active partner before "Original Sin" and wait for a patch where the developer has not supplied recovery steps.

The official notice does not prescribe skipping or replaying cutscenes, clearing a cache, restarting a console, or loading an autosave. Those may circulate as player anecdotes, but they are not a substitute for the published workaround.

Reports we are monitoring, not publishing as fixes

Launch-week community discussion includes reports of stutter around Road to Tolbana and isolated combat failures in Death Game Mode. At the time of this update, neither has an official notice or a reliably reproducible, cross-platform workaround. They are useful signals for our research queue, not instructions to follow.

  • Road to Tolbana stutter: player report; no verified setting change or official acknowledgement yet.
  • Death Game combat failure reports: player reports; no verified cause, affected encounter list, or recovery path yet.

Seeing an issue here does not mean it affects every player. Not seeing it here does not mean it is impossible. The distinction is evidence: official notice, repeatable evidence from independent players, then a sourced workaround.

How this tracker is maintained

Each entry has to clear three bars before it becomes actionable: a trustworthy source, a precise trigger, and a workaround that does not create a bigger risk. Official notices lead. Multiple independent reports can justify a clearly labelled monitoring entry. A single post, video, or comment can point us toward research, but never becomes a definitive guide on its own.

For combat preparation while issues are unresolved, use the beginner's guide, partner system guide, and Death Game Mode guide. They explain the systems; this page is only for current risk and support information.

FAQ

Is there an official workaround for the Original Sin black-screen bug?
Yes. Before starting Original Sin, select Iori, Zash or Argo as your active partner. Bandai Namco says the bug can occur when the quest is completed with another partner and a permanent fix is planned for a future update.
Should I use a community fix for an Echoes of Aincrad bug?
Treat it as a report, not a fix, unless Bandai Namco has confirmed it. This page only gives step-by-step advice for official workarounds; unverified reports are labelled as such and have no recommended action beyond avoiding unnecessary risk.
Is it safe to play Death Game Mode while launch issues are being investigated?
That is a personal risk call. Death Game Mode has permanent consequences, while retail edge cases are still being documented. Check the official issue list before a long session and do not assume an unverified workaround will preserve a run.
